I was arrested July 3rd,2016 for a felony DUI. My court date was set in June of 2018 for August 13,2018. They can't locate the arresting officer. So, the courts are putting off my case, until they can find him. My attorney is, in fact, court appointed. Shouldn't he have brought up my right to a speedy trial or brought up the limitations law 99-1-5?
If you are unhappy with your attorney you should talk to them. If that doesn’t address your concerns you should hire another lawyer.
There are lots of different things that come into play when it comes to felony cases. That being said, you should speak with your attorney or consider hiring private counsel.
