My Executive Director at a retirement home called me this morning with some questions in regards to my manager. He first asked me if I knew that my manager was recording me and another person and I said no. He also asked if I gave permission for it also again I said no. My question is it against the law and to what extent and is it worth pursuing. He said the company has policy of no recording and the company was going to look into it.
The company having a policy to not record anyone is not the same thing as being against the law. If your manager was recording a conversation to which he was a party to, even slightly, it is LEGAL. However, if he placed hidden microphones to intercept other people's conversations, he would be committing a felony.

You don't really have enough in the way of information. to provide you with any advice. Is it video recording or just audio. Are you being recorded in a private area or in open areas. What is being recorded and how often. Was the person recording it part of the conversation or event? I would say that you need to ask these and other questions of the Executive Director. Once you have that information, you will be able to make a more well informed decision.

Texas is a one-party-consent state. So you can usually record someone else you're talking to because you consent, and it just takes one. Flip side is that you can be recorded even if you don't know or give permission. But see comments of colleagues raising good questions about the type of recording, etc. When you ask whether you should go to the police or wait for the outcome of employer, I'm not really clear on what your goal is. What harm did you experience due to the recording? The police could document your report, but I don't see any crime having been committed??
