I was at stop sign at an intersection. I tried once to get across but couldn't make it. I looked again and saw that i had enough room. The road I was entering on has 2 lanes on each side and single lane turn lane in the middle. I got into the turn lane safely. The rear of my vehicle was in the middle turn lane the front of my vehicle was in the 4th lane (stop sign, lane 1, lane 2, turn lane (3), Lane 4, Lane 5. I had passed lane 1 and 2. Rear end was in turn lane (3). I was there for 1-2 seconds then I was impacted by a car from lane 2. The impact was on driver side front. Which from my position was in lane 4. I did not hear braking or horn. I only felt the impact as I was looking to the right. I was cited with a failure to yield.
Without seeing the accident report and witness statements I cannot answer this question for you. If you are only charged with failure to yield it is a traffic infraction and you are probably only entitled to a final hearing or trial to the court which makes these cases more difficult. it probably makes sense to talk to a local attorney you can let you know more so you can do a proper cost benefit analysis.
