I shoplifted at walmart 6 years ago and didnt get caught but for some reason i was paranoid about that and come in and told the manager that i could pay back and the manager said its all good since its a long time ago and i told him that I'm currently seeking for a job and he said just apply and he would help me out since he like my honesty and he said i have nothing to worry about the past and should move on. Do you think they would set me up for anything or should i go for it. Please helpi called some attorney and she said they would set me up and now im worry :(
The statute of limitations for petty theft and/or burglary have long since passed. You could not be prosecuted.
It's your call if he's being sincere and legit.
The above answer is for general information only and is based on the information you posted. Every case is fact dependent, so to get a thorough analysis of your situation, you will need to consult face to face with an attorney licensed to practice in the jurisdiction where the incident took place. Do not conclusively rely on any information posted online when deciding what to do about your case.
It doesn't sound like he is setting you up, but then again, only you know how that conversation went down. Anyway, the manager wouldn't have to tell you to go through all that just to get you arrested for theft. He could have called the cops right then and there and didn't, so there's something to be said about that.
