My wife works at a retail store as part of a merchandising team her supervisor constantly makes remarks about the females on the team being "useless" and "lazy" it happens on a daily basis what is the correct way to deal in that type of situation
This is clearly inappropriate, and if the comments are repeated often and coupled with conduct that mirrors the supervisor's negative attitude toward women as a group, it might even cross the line into sex discrimination, and the creation of a hostile work environment. That may not be the case just yet, but it could be in the future. For now, it would be appropriate to contact the supervisor's direct superior at the company and make an HR complaint. More action might be needed later (in which case I would suggest contacting a local employment lawyer), but that appears premature at present. Hopefully the company's HR department will take this seriously enough to enjoin the supervisor's disrespectful behavior, and warn him from taking any retaliatory action. If counsel at any point becomes necessary, consider using Avvo's "Find a Lawyer" feature as a reference. I hope your wife soon feels comfortable at work.
