On 8/21/1989; I explain this simple big misunderstanding situation to a police officer of course after he told me that we may be able to resolve this issue. But instead, I was arrested, finding out later after taking the probation; not that I was guilty of this accused of one count 288(a) P.C. charge. But I can't stand it being incarcerated. It's still today a mystery just how was I charged with this case. There are two side to a story, issue or situation, not just one, the Police officer's.
It may be very tough, given it is now almost 27 years ago, but you can certainly try. Start with getting a docket report, if you can and find out the court reporter's name. Try contracting her (or him) through the court, however, it is very possible the court reporter has retired or the phone number for her or him is no longer valid. However, give it a try and good luck.
You're still "confused " about a child molest conviction from nearly 30 years ago? It will be difficult to get the records you seek. They may no longer exist.
SAN DIEGO CRIMINAL DEFENSE ATTORNEY--20 years experience
Hang on... You plead to this case, were put on probation and are now seeking all the reports because it is a mystery to you how you got charged?
I assume you had a lawyer during all this. If they are still practicing, start with them. Otherwise, you may not be able to track down everything you're looking for.
The above answer is for general information only and is based on the information you posted. Every case is fact dependent, so to get a thorough analysis of your situation, you will need to consult face to face with an attorney licensed to practice in the jurisdiction where the incident took place. Do not conclusively rely on any information posted online when deciding what to do about your case.
They say hindsight is 20-20. A 30 year old 288(a) conviction and "it's a mystery who you were charged?" I seriously doubt any of these files still exist and besides I assume you have had a lawyer at the time, so not sure why this is coming up now. Yeah, I know - that 290 registration thing is a real pain.
