My cousin has been selected for US Diversity Visa lottery and has an interview coming up next month at the US embassy. Since I live in the US, he wants to provide form I-134 (affidavit of support). Is it mandatory to include sponsor's SSN (if available) in the form? SSN is sensitive information so wanted to check if it's absolutely required. I can provide the Alien Registration Number in the form, a letter from my employer and bank account statements etc. but would it be an issue if I left the SSN blank or wrote confidential over it?
The intending immigrant must provide all information requested or risk a denial. As the sponsor if you do not provide the information requested the I-134 and the immigrant may be denied.
I have 33 years experience and practice immigration law only. My answer to your question is general in nature and not to be construed as legal advise or as establishing an attorney-client relationship. For additional discussion regarding your personal situation a scheduled consultation is required.
