Assault on a Police Officer is a serious offense- a class "D" felony. If an officer injures himself while he is performing a lawful function, i.e. arrest, the person who he is arresting can be charged with Assault on a Police Officer. Speak to an experienced criminal defense attorney that will be able to work out a favorable plea with the DA and discuss the implications on your RN license.
