An officer out of his jurisdiction, and not even in the county came to my work today. He wanted me to set up my roomate, so he could arrest him on a bench warrent in his city. He told me if I didnt text my roomate and find out where he was he would call the another police office that I currently have a bench warrent in to come arrest me.
Unfortunately, the courts have supported the ability for the police to lie to citizens if they are trying to gather evidence. The question is whether you will play his game. Get a good lawyer. he should have reported you already as a peace officer who knows the whereabouts of a fugitive. He may well double-cross you, be careful. Get a defense lawyer to handle your warrant.
No attorney-client relationship exists ,this response should not be considered as advice and should not be relied upon. Make a confidential appointment to speak with counsel in person or by telephone.
The police can lie to you unfortunately, but best to clear up the warrant so this doesn't happen again.
I concur with the other two attorneys. You have a weakness so long as this warrant is outstanding. Fix it now, on your terms. Don't wait to be picked up at a less opportune time. Then, tell the cop to go fly a kite.
