Visited an establishment and the employee helping us sent my girlfriend a request on Facebook later that night. I see it as an inappropriate use of personal information gathered at the business for the employee's personal gain. My girlfriend is really bothered by this and does not wish to return to this establishment because she does not want to see this person. Are there any legal points to bring up in a complaint against this employee? I find it unethical and unprofessional to use her personal information in this manner, but is there a legal stand point I can use to make my complaint more significant ?
Is it illegal for an employee to send a customer a Facebook friend request? No.
Is it inappropriate and unprofessional? Yes.
Is it creepy? Yes.
Is it something you should complain about to the establishment's manager? Yes.
What kind of arguments would have an impact on the establishment's manager? How about:
"My girlfriend is really bothered by this and does not wish to return to this establishment because she does not want to see this person."
You've already said it. This employee's creepy behavior is causing the business to lose customers.
