I am sponsoring for my friend. I live with my wife. I have green card with 10 year expiration date. She had 2 year temp green card. It got expired. We filed I-90 and permanent green card process is going on. I am submitting I864 as joint sponsor & my wife will sign as household member in I-864A. Will the I-551 stamp on her passport (valid till Nov 2018) will be considered as permanent resident evidence in place of physical hard copy? As an evidence of permanent residency, can we put photocopy of passport with I-551 stamp signed/endorsed by officer? Thank you in advance for your time.
You filed an I-90 for your wife? You might have made a mistake, normally the 2 year greencard (based on marriage) requires the I-751 .. NOT the I-90.
Yes, a 551 stamp, is usually proof of resident status.

Your wife may have been issued the two year conditional resident status which requires the filing of the FORM I-751 and not the FORM I-90.
The I-551 stamp is generally accepted as proof of resident status.
You need to file I-751 to remove condition.
