I just had a carpool violation ticket with a description " Failure to obey posted sign for preferential traffic lanes" from the officer. I am not speeding or crossing over the double solid yellow lines. I got cited for driving alone. After 2 weeks, I received the ticket's bill and it had 2 options: 1) pay bail only and 2) pay extra 54 dollar to attend traffic school. Should I go to traffic school for this ticket ? Will I got a point counted if not going to ? Thanks in advance
If you were cited for being solo in the carpool lane, that is not a negligent operator point. Some court notices are standard and have wrong information on them.
Note that the actual court case could have a different or additional violations than what was written on your ticket--either by officer amendment or court clerical error. If so, then best not to simply pay the ticket or take traffic school. I recommend either hiring an attorney or finding out what the court record shows. Then decide what to do after that.
