I am not married to my daughter's mother and we do not have a current SAPCR or court ordered child custody/child support order yet. I have paid her child support since day one and continue to do so. She asked me to sign an Affidavit for Child Support as proof of her additional income because she wants a new apartment. Can you tell me if this is ok to sign and if there is anything I need to be worried about?
Please take the affidavit to a lawyer who can advise you on what information the affidavit should contain. If it contains information that you have paid her $x per month for x number of years, and the mother also signs it saying she agrees that you have done so, then when she files for child support someday you have proof that you have been paying some child support. Then you won't be charged with retroactive child support (or at least not as much, I don't know how much you have been paying).
