My husband and I just found a house and are moving into it due to the fact that the apartment that we have been living in for 5 years has not been properly taken care of. The maintenance men were making repairs on the outside and using our electric for power tools without our permission and was wired into the outlet. The roof needs repaired and as a result the celling closet in the 2nd bedroom is falling in and when it rains water comes in as well. We cannot leave the furnace on while we are not home because the internal thermostat gets stuck so it will no shut off when that happens unless we flip the breaker and the landlord is aware of that and has not fixed the furnace. so is a notice required to be given prior to leaving? I do have pictures of the celling for the closet and where they wired the power tools into the outlet.
Why aren’t you on the lease? You can’t just break the lease. You have to look at the terms of the lease to find out how it is canceled before it is completed by its term
