Be sure to note that they need to either send your portion or respond t o your request for an explanation within 10 days of receipt of the letter or you will hire an attorney. The above comments about legal aid or law clinics at law schools are correct. Even an attorney from another state can help with this demand. There may be a logical reason however such as a sale of property etc. If not however time is of the essence because there may be something going on that will jeopardize your rights.

Is there a legal aid office in your are?. Due to your circumstances, you may qualify for pro bono representation. Alternatively, you could write a letter to the administrator stating that you will be consulting with counsel to inquire about the status of your inheritance.
