Two years after my marriage, I found out that my husband is married to his first wife who is back in Pakistan. She is not registered in any state in USA. I wanted to know what my rights would be as the second wife. I know the marriage will be void but since I am the innocent victim here , will I not have any entitlement to support after I get divorced? or annulled? Can I sue my husband for marriage fraud? What steps can I take?
I am sorry that you are going through this. You have a very intereting situation in that you may be able to achieve what you are looking for by filing for a divorce and perhaps even fighting the anullment issue. Given that you did not know and there would be no way you could have known, you may be able to invoke the power of the court to order some type of equitable remedy. Chat with a local attny in MN, it will be worthwhile. Take care and good luck.

You are correct that the marriage would be void. But, that means that there would be no divorce. Without a divorce, getting spousal maintenance would be nearly impossible. I've never heard of suing in the manner you'd suggest. I would recommend consulting with a local attorney. Feel free to give me a call.
