My father died with no living will but has a girlfriend an adopted daughter ex spouse and myself his daughter, who can receive money with death certificate?
Hard to say with your description of many people who survived. That said, if he had no spouse and you are a child, you may be the heir. If you have other siblings however, they are entitled to a share too. You don’t provide that information.
Whether you can gain access to the account now will depend on the size of your father’s estate. If his total estate not in a trust and not held in joint tenancy with another person is less than $150,000, then you (and you siblings if any) can sign a small estate affidavit to gain access to your share. If the estate is over $150,000, it will have to proceed through probate and someone will have to petition the court to be appointed administrator of the estate. Adopted children are entitled to a share of the estate just as if they were a natural born child.
