i take the bus home right in front of the mall, so i had to use the restroom inside of Macy's. So then i was on my way to the restroom saw a pair of shorts that were 30 dollars and i didn't have money so i stuff them in my pants and went to the restroom. when i was in the there i put on the shorts under my pants and throw the tag in the trash. so i was already out the door of Macy's when i feel a guy tap me on my shoulder and say "are the short under the pants" then i start freaking out and then he tells me to come with him. then he ask me my age which is 14 and since im a minor he has to call my parent. but i didn't know my parents phone #. then they call the cops and they wrote me a ticket (i also had a clean record) and dropped me off at home. so will they show the tape in court?
It appears you were cited for a Theft Under $50 which is a Class C Misdemeanor punishable by a fine up to $500. Class C Misdemeanor citations rarely go to trial, but when they do you can expect the city prosecutor will have their evidence ready. This could include the surveillance video from the store. You should consult with a local defense attorney concerning your citation. Most important thing for someone your age is to keep arrests and charges off of your criminal record.

They might show the tape in court. You should never post any incriminating information on a public forum like this. It is not confidential. Whenever you have a legal question, you should go see an attorney about it not post things like this on a forum like this. You are charged with a crime, and these matters are usually resolved without much damage to you since you are a minor. But let this be a lesson to you to never, ever wind up in the same position again.
