If the IRS wrongfully denies an e-file number to a tax preparer, and I suffer loss of business because of it, can I sue?
The IRS has denied me an e-file tax number on the basis that I am not a US Citizen. It just so happens that I am a US citizen. I have sent in an appeal but they state they don't know if or when it will be reversed, and are giving me wait times that will bleed into the tax season. This will effectively kill my business.
