I'm renting an apartment and trying to obtain a business license. The city says that requires the landlord's written permission although it is a completely online business. It also said I can't use a UPS Store address or anything of that sort to get the license.
In addition to concerns about an address for a business license, you should review your lease to ascertain whether it prohibits operating a business in those premises. If so, absent landlord's consent, you will need another location from which to operate the business; that location can serve as the address. You should consult with an experienced Business Attorney to assist you in organizing and operating your business.
The foregoing discussion does not establish an attorney-client relationship, is qualified by the limited facts presented above, and should not be relied upon as legal advice. My intention in answering questions is to provide guidance that will familiarize the public with the subject matter and facilitate selecting and interacting with attorneys. To obtain definitive legal advice upon which one can rely necessitates retaining an attorney who is qualified in this particular area of the law.
Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals.
