My daughter was emancipated, she's 25 now, but I owe arrears. I'm wondering if I should pay for 15 years or 18 years of support.
My first response is to know what kind of emancipation took place, as one has more legal consequences than the other. Secondly, you need to speak to an attorney who can research this issue and offer more guidance for you, as this is not a typical situation. Best of luck to you.
If you are paying off arrearages pursuant to an executory judgment, then you will have to continue paying them until the judgment-amount is paid off, regardless of the age of the child. If you are calculating your own assumed arrears, but an amount was never fixed, you should hire an attorney to review your case.
