I was charged with trespassing and given a year probation with a suspended sentence of 30 days.
If you mean will you be on probation after serving 30 days the answer is yes. If you mean can you serve the whole year and avoid probation the answer is probably yes but you better get this straight at sentencing. If it does not show up in the disposition order that the sentence is one year no probation you may have problems.
I lot of things can happen. I assume your sentence was "30 days, the active part suspended in lieu of probation."
In which case if you are violated, you would just serve the active sentence. However, if you are violated on probation there will be a hearing and any number of things can happen depending the ADA, your probation officer (if it was supervised probation), the judge, and your lawyer. This is all very fact dependent. You should get a lawyer to address your specific situation.
