I lived in ohio had lost my license to a ovi in 2012. I owe reinstatement fees... but I now live in indiana.. Am I able to obtain a indiana license while still owing reinstatement fees to the state of ohio.. does indiana recognize out of state reinstatements.. even though I am now a indiana resident for the past four months.. and the ovi I had was in 2012?
Most states now belong to the Interstate Compact. What that means is that they all communicate with each other to enforce licensing laws in similar ways. If you apply for a license in Indiana, Indiana will put your info into their computer which is hooked up to the interstate compact system and your license will come up suspended in Ohio. Indiana will tell you, you need to get your suspension lifted in Ohio before you can get an Indiana license. You need to get your suspension lifted in Ohio before you do anything else.
