The divorce was finalized and entered before 12/31/18 so I know my monthly spousal support payments are tax deductible to me and taxable to her, but since the court orders a Smith Ostler calculation to be paid and mandates the % that is child support and spousal support, does the spousal support meet the requirement to be considered court ordered spousal support and thus, qualify for this tax treatment?
The Smith Ostler % should be separated so the part that is ordered for spousal support would also be deductible.
