I've been married for 6 yrs and have been a permanent resident since 2012 I am trying to get my citizenship under 5yrs marriage. We have 2 children together and the lease is under both our names. For the past 3 yr I have been filing head of household house due to we have been living apart for the past 3 yrs. Can u tell me if this will affect my naturalization process
You need to speak with an immigration lawyer for answers to these questions. Please contact an immigration lawyer as soon as possible so as to ensure that you preserve all of your rights. Good luck!
Five years is the standard time as a permanent resident needed to apply for naturalization. You might be thinking of persons who are 'living in marital union' with a US citizen for three years as a permanent resident. You don't need to fit yourself into the 3 year exception if you've been a permanent resident for more than five years. If you have questions about your eligibility for naturalization you should speak to a qualified lawyer.
