after seeing 9 dogs in cages I decided not to move in there was no lease signed she did not ask me for references she would not give me my $700 deposit back she said she was going to see me until she rents out the room I offered to move in for 30 days and that would also be my 30 day noticesince we did not have a signed lease she will not answer my text or my phone call yet she tells me she is going to summe and if I do not show up she's going to put a tax levied against me and this is in the state of California
There is a lot going on there. You need to speak with a versed Landlord/Tenant attorney and explain to the attorney all the facts. As it stands, I don't think she can sue you if you never had a lease. But you should be able to receive your $700.00 back... but I can't be sure without more details.
Contact a landlord/tenant attorney or if you don't want to do that, file a small claims case.
