I am an MBA student on an F-1 visa. I was planning to graduate in May and have applied for my OPT which is in 'Requested' status. Due to some issue with one of my courses (1 Credit course) I will have to defer my graduation to December. Since I will retake my 1 Credit course again in the fall, will I be able to successfully maintain my F1 status?
F-1 status generally requires you to be in a full time program. You should speak with the international student officer at your school to discuss the implications on your status and your OPT.
Generally, you may enroll for less credit hours if it is your final semester. This will not affect your F1 status. It is best to talk to your international office.
This could be a problem ... what did you DSO say when you asked him/her?
