I rent month to month in an apartment complex. I have been diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder, Anxiety and PTSD. Recently My therapist and psychiatrist had mentioned the option of an ESA (emotional support animal) as they believe it would be beneficial to me. When moving into the complex. We signed several papers prohibiting pets in the building. I know ESA's are not defined as pets by the FHA or HUD. But I fear because I am month to month that they will evict me for even bringing up the subject of having an ESA.
Thank you so much for your help.
If you are not on the lease, your rights are only those under basic tenancy law. Moving to landlord/tenant so you can get better answers.
