our grandchildren have been with us for a year and a half and their parents put them with us (poa) because they were going to jail. we chose to be their foster parents. the dcs worker made a referral and I was short on my pain pills from my pain clinic, family death- I took a couple of nerve pills given to me- pain clinic denied me hydrocodone because of it, have a surgery for toe nail removal- dr gives pain pills(hydrocodone), have some left- take them 2 months later because unhealed toe (diabetic) got hurt and bleeding. dcs gives me a drug test- show them my toe and bottle for script- they say I fail for oxycodone- DIDNT TAKE OXYCOCONE and asked them to send to lab, they wont we had a meeting with them couple days later and they remove kids from our home and say we are no longer foster parents. kids parents time to straighten up is almost up and they will be up for adoption. don't see signs that parents are going to stay clean from meth. before they let them be adopted, can we get another chance to have them?
Your best bet is to file a petition for custody. When you chose to be foster parents, you also chose to have DCS be the custodian and have full control over where they are placed. I recommend that you consult an attorney as soon as possible.
