How much were you paid per hour? Did you do any "side work "during your shift?

The employer is required to pay you minimum wage under both federal and Florida law. For hours over 40, the employer is required to pay time and a half if they meet eligibility requirements. Currently, Florida's minimum wage is $7.93 per hour. There are rules for those employees who receive "tips," such as a server or waitress. In this case, the minimum wage in Florida is $4.91 per hour. You do not really give us enough information to determine if you were or were not paid fairly. Once concern I would have is that you were paid cash. This would presuppose that you were not paying federal taxes out of your pay. I would recommend that you contact an employment attorney to speak with regarding your pay issues and the events revolving around your termination in more detail. Best of luck to you.
