I wrote a check in the amount of $814.00 for my portion of the rent that I paid my roommate. I have $10,000+ Sitting in that one checking account. I received a letter in the mail saying that the check was bounced. Am I entitled to receive any compensation for this mishap? Banks usually charge a fee for bounced checks, but since they screwed up should I charge them? It's extremely inconvenient and embarrassing on my end.
