You can check the union contract, but after you are out sick a certain number of months, the company can replace you.
You should consult with a lawyer to review your situation. As a contract worker the union contract will dictate whether you have a viable claim or not.
1. Demand (in writing) to know why your union refused to file a grievance for you. Many of the unions are comfortable verbally telling folks what they won't do for them, but when it comes to creating written evidence of their laziness they get nervous.
