Hi. I am a Missouri-licensed attorney. Additional information would be needed in order to determine what type of answer would be legally required. Also, it is necessary to know the date that you were served with the summons, in order to determine if the deadline is indeed today, as you seem to suggest. There are specific things that need to be included in an answer, in order to preserve your defenses. What is the nature of the complaint? Is there a court date indicated? FYI-I am a Missouri attorney, but have not yet set up my profile, as the Missouri attorney directory is not yet complete, though will be soon. My e-mail is [email protected] Thanks.

You should not have waited until the last minute to try and figure out what to do. You should retain counsel to assist you in responding to the complaint. If you must proceed in pro per, then you need to determine whether you were sued in state or federal court because responses to complaints differ between them. Once you have determined that, then you need to either move to dismiss the complaint or answer it.
