A little less than a year ago in March or April, I rented a car while my vehicle was being repaired. I was told all tolls would be charged to the card I left on file. Today in February of 2019 I received the first notification of anything owed, in the form of a collections letter. This is obviously detrimental to me. I obviously owe the amount being collected, because I never knew about it and was never informed about the charges. The rental company has my address and phone number and not once did anyone reach out to me. When I asked them why I was told they do mail letters to the address on file and apologize if I never received them but there's nothing they can do now. I find that explanation lacking, because they should have made multiple attempts and there is no way I would not have received something at least once. Not even a phone call?
best thing you can do, is pay the amount owed, or settle for a lesser amount, if able, to avoid a lawsuit being filed against you.
