Had an accident in company vehicle
From the amount of information you provided it is difficult to answer your question. You can hire a criminal defense attorney to assist you in fighting the traffic citation if you believe that you weren't at fault. In regards to the accident if you were injured you can hire a personal injury attorney or a workers compensation attorney (depending on if you were working at the time of the accident).
If you were indeed injured, make sure to seek the reasonable and necessary medical treatment that you need. While you are treating contact a local attorney immediately. You can use AVVO's "Find a Lawyer" tool to assist you if you don't know of any in your area.
If you are talking about any civil liability issue, you should leave the defense to the liability insurance carrier you work carries. They should provide you with a defense up to the limits of your employer's liability coverage.
If you want to fight the citation issued, your employer's insurance carrier will not help you there, but you should not attempt to attempt to defend yourself, as you do not have the legal experience or acumen to do so successfully.
Contact an experienced defense attorney who specializes in traffic citation defense. He or she may not be able to get the charges completely dismissed but may at the very least mitigate any penalties against you and may be able to keep any points off your license.
You can use the “Find a lawyer” link at the top of the screen for the names of attorneys in your area.
Please do not message me for further advice. If you are in need of an attorney to assist you, please search for another attorney in the jurisdiction involved in your case, as I am now retired, and my former law firm is no longer handling these types of cases. I am active on AVVO and answer questions only as a public service at this point.
IMPORTANT: No attorney-client relationship is formed through interaction with this attorney on this public forum. The contents of any comment or response should be considered general conversational discourse on the topic identified and NOT specific legal advice or analysis that might apply to your situation. If you rely upon any part of the content of this response in making any decision or pursuing any course of action, you do so at your own risk and without recourse against this attorney or law firm.
Of course. If you wish to contest the traffic citation, hire a lawyer that handles traffic tickets. If you were hurt, you can hire a personal injury trial lawyer to seek recovery against the other driver. You may also be entitled to workers compensation benefits. If the other driver sues you in a civil lawsuit, your or your employer's insurer should hire a lawyer to defend you.
Look for lawyers with high Avvo Ratings™ (on this website), high Martindale Hubbell Legal Directory Peer Review Ratings™ (http://lawyers.com), and/or Board Certification in the relvant subject area(s) from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization (http://tbls.org).
Exchange of information through Avvo's Questions forum does not establish an attorney-client relationship with me. That relationship is established only by individual consultation and execution of a written agreement for legal services. My Avvo posts are based on limited information provided and are not intended as conclusive legal advice.
Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not. What determines Avvo Rating?Experience & background
