I have recently learned that this part of the building has been shut down by the government due OSHA) due other employees complaining. Do I have a case for wrongful termination?
Depending on the facts of your case, you may have a claim under the federal Family and Medical Leave Act and/or the D.C. Paid Sick and Safe Leave Act of 2008. If your illness may have been caused by conditions in the building where you were working, you may also have a workers' compensation claim. You may want to cross-post your question under "Workers Compensation" for more information about that.
If you were eligible for Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) time off and were discharged because of FMLA or disability related reasons, you might have a case. However, you should contact an attorney to discuss the specifics of your case because more information is needed to answer your question.
