My father told me at the time that he took care of it, but I recently found out he wrote a letter to the court telling them that he wouldn't bring me from San Diego to Lake Havasu. I'm in a nursing program and have been told that if I plead guilty I won't be able to get a nurse's license in CA. I want to clear this up and put it behind me, but don't know how to proceed.
Please retain an attorney to help you with this. If there is a warrant you need to take care of it. There are places you can get legal aid or sometimes, free help if you qualify. Ask your local bar association. Yes, this will affect your nursing license, if you plead guilty or nolo.
Warrants don't just go away. It is your responsibility to attend court. Due tot he age of the case I would call the county attorney and see what your options are since it's clear they would have a difficult time trying to arrest you in California for a warrant in Arizona. When I was a County Attorney I actually settled many old cases and had warrants recalled.
You need to do this through an attorney.

This response is only a basic answer to your question and is not intended to be legal advise. It is your job to hire an attorney and to discuss the specifics of this question with him or her. I am not giving you specific legal advise and there is no attorney-client relationship created by my answer to your question. The choice of an attorney is an important decision that you must make and that choice should not be made upon adverting alone.
