I wanted to know if I could get my record expunged.

Any crime where assault is an element of the criminal act, cannot be expunged in North Carolina. You might've been better off with the felony hit-and-run. Regardless, as my colleague indicated, a guilty plea takes a waiting period of 15 years before you can get it expunged.
Different states have different criteria for whether a conviction can be expunged. Consult a local attorney.
If it was a conviction, no you cannot get it expunged since it just happened 4 years ago, unfortunately.
