I have to go to mayors court i dont have an attourney yet i gave the sausage back and apologized should i plead guilty or not guilty what will i get jail time or a fine
I strongly suggest you retain an attorney prior to going to court. If you can not obtain an attorney before going then you should enter a plea of not guilty and speak with an attorney. Theft is a first degree misdemeanor which carries up to 180 days in jail and a $1000 fine. There is no mandatory fine or jail. It is not safe to assume that just because this is your first offense that you will not get jail time. A good attorney can often help you avoid jail and avoid having a theft on your record. Good luck.

I would strongly recommend that you plead not-guilty and find counsel. Because you are charged with theft, you are facing a first degree misdemeanor, which carries up to six months in jail and a fine of $1000. Also, a theft conviction can haunt you when you go to apply for a job, seek a promotion at work, etc. I would recommend hiring an attorney who practices in criminal defense and who has experience with Mayor's Courts here in Ohio; which are quite different than other courts. I truly wish you the best of luck.
