I signed a lease on 10/29 to start on 10/31.. I paid a 300 security deposit and for the entire month of November .. I had my mother call on November 1 to tell them I wouldn't be moving in and I went in the office on nov 10th and told them.. Since I never moved in do I owe anything additional.. Or do I just lose the security deposit and the first months rent?
It would depend on the terms of the contract and whether or not there is a clause allowing for cancellation of the contract before move-in. Without reviewing the lease, it would be impossible to know; however, typically when you enter into a lease agreement, you are responsible for the term of the lease. If you choose to cancel the contract, the landlord has a duty to try to re-rent the property. Your obligation will end when the property has been re-rented.

Look at the lease and then clarify with the landlord what it believes you are responsible for. If you do not agree, then consult an attorney.

You need to read that lease. There is a chance you will owe for every month that apartment isn't rented. Read it and consult with an attorney.
