Father left when child was 2, hasn't been in his life or paid anything and the child is now 13, happy with mom and has a good life, recently i decided to file for child support thinking this is a good thing but I'm having a change of heart, knowing now we are better off not having to go through any of that can I cancel the whole thing even tho I received a letter stating when the first court hearing is??.
If you filed without the assistance of DCSS, then you can just call the department clerk and take the hearing off calendar. If you've served the other parent, you need to advise him or her that you're doing it.
