This morning my mom called me that a van with a bunch of stickers of different businesses parked outside our house and delivered a envelope. She said the van said UPS and Fed Ex and other logos? She opened the letter and there was the check for 1400 dollars to me with no letter inside. I called the law firm who was stated as the sender in the letter and they said it was fraud and others had received it. I was dumfounded but recently I have been applying to a lot of jobs on my universities career website I get email responses from different companies and firms. I realized that I had applied to rent.com owned by rent-path llc when they emailed me asking me to fill another application for a stay at home position in which I would process payments for apartments, on glassdoor the company existed and had a bbb rating and is a large company? But the scary part is they are using my University to recruit students who fall into this trap. I could have deposited the check becasue I graduated and I'm broke with bills and went to jail. Checked my university email latter and there it is instructions to send the check to the Philippines through money gram. This is scary!
It's a scam, just like the Nigerian prince.

It is scary. Congratulate yourself that you did not get taken in by it. Report the scam to your University's career center so that they will ban the scammer from using the University job board. While you are looking for jobs, be especially alert to the fact that the vast majority of "work from home" job postings are scams. Best of luck in your job search!
