I have talked to the state tax dept. they gave me a 60 day hold to file everything. They told me all collection proceeding will halt. The attorneys office that is in charge of collecting told me that this is not true. They will continue to collect that it is in their hands now. The attorneys office has been so had to deal with. They will not work with me or except any payments. They want money in full. They have asked for my accountants phone number. Who I spoke to from the tax dept. I am very scared of what they can do to me and my family. We are hard working people and fell behind but will pay every cent back. Please any advice would be great. This law firm has made fun of me, belittled me, called me a liar, threatened to take what we have. Can they do this?
The State of Ohio frequently uses private collection firms to recover taxmoneys that it believes are due and oweing. If they have assisgned the collection rights to one of these firms then the information you received from the Department of Taxation may not be accurate. YOU should consult with an attorney in your location to further explore your options in thes matter.
