My father was treated multiple times at PowerBack rehab in Exton PA. He was on Medicare Part A and covered under my mothers Personal Choice insurance. Half of the bill was already paid but it is a doctors bill and they do not participate in personal choice so there is still $500+ outstanding. Since he has passed we are trying to understand if we need to pay the bill that came for him. We would prefer not to and want to know if there are any risks to not paying and or how we should go about handling that and if we get any other bills for the care he received.
Thank you so much for your help and assistance in this matter!
Assuming this is a PA Estate, you should consult a PA probate attorney and provide all the pertinent documents and information to get a proper answer. For example, did your Father leave a Will? If so, who was named Executor? If no Will, was anyone appointed as the Administrator? Did your Father have any assets in his own name? If so, they could be used to pay the doctor’s bill. If he had no assets, then you don’t have to pay the bill, unless someone other than your father (like your mother) also agreed in writing to be liable for the medical expenses.
