My disability money pays my wife and mine rent and bills
Congratulations on your desire to go onto rehab. Getting help for your drug problem will hopefully improve your life as well as that of your family. Your question would be best answered by an attorney who could spend some time with you because this doesn't easily call for a yes or no answer. Often, a person with a substance abuse (SA) problem has other impairments that cause a disability independent of the SA. If that is the case, helping the SA problem may not change whether a person is able to work or not. A person gets disability because they are unable to work. I would suggest that you talk to a social security attorney.
Although every effort is made to provide information in response to a question, because of laws, policies, and practices from state to state, the information provided is general and no attorney client relationship exists. For more specific information, it is strongly suggested that the person avail themselves of the services of a qualified attorney in their local area.
