What actions if any can be taken when your name and everything is being - I guess the right word here is slander?? Have been accused of all kinds of stuff - having things posted about me on FB that is not truth - because the wants attention. How do i salvage myself and keep this from happening??
If you don't have an attorney, you should sit down and retain one. Depending on what exactly is being done, you might have a cause of action. You might be able to use the posts in your favor during the divorce proceedings.
Things said in divorce court are privileged and not actionable. Postings on facebook are not, unless they appear as opinions or quotes from Court papers and labeled as such. You need to retain a Family Law attorney.
An attorney would need to know more about the fact and circumstances involved in order to properly answer your question. If you are going through a divorce, I recommend you contact an attorney to discuss it. If you currently have an attorney, I recommend you discuss the situation regarding the defamation, libel and slander with your divorce attorney. An attorney would need to know more about how you've been damaged and the party that defamed you, in order to give an opinion regarding that.
