The quotes are all from anonymous patrons, but each night's listing of ten quotes is titled according to the band; i.e., "Top Ten Things Overheard at The Son Volt show." I'm wondering if there would be any legal repercussions for using the band's names in the book - the quotes in no way reflect the bands nor originate from any band members themselves, a point that will be made clear in the introductory disclaimer. Also, could there be any legal action taken from the owners of the bar if they disagree with the contents in any way? I do not intend on naming the music venue in the book, but with a little research I imagine a reader could figure out the name of the bar. Thanks for any advice!
if you do not identify the bar or the people..and the comments are not about other people who can be identified you should be OK
You cannot use other people's names or likenesses without their permission. If the Son Volt is the actual name of the band, you need their permission to use it.
