Before I even post this, I will admit I'm an idiot and should not have done this. And I do know that forging a card in any way is a federal offense, I'm just hoping this isn't a biggie.
Here is what happened:
In a bind and applied for an instant approval credit card.
Got approved pending some documents to verify my ID.
Got everything they needed, but couldn't for the life of me find my old SS card.
I looked up getting a replacement and saw how long it takes to get one. Usually would be no prob, but again, I'm in a bind and needed a couple thousand dollars to pay some bills.
I work all day in photoshop and graphics so, I figured it must be pretty easy to whip one up, and whats the harm in faking MY OWN SS card that I've had since the 90's.
I make what I think is a convincing fake, do a quick scan, and upload.
They deny the application, and you guessed it again, it's because "They couldn't verify my identity" I finally got the guy to tell me it was a "problem" with the SS card. Doesn't take a genius to know what that problem was. So of course my question is, do I need to worry about a govt official coming to my door and arresting me? I'm kinda freaking out now. Please help
Probably the worst idea you've ever had, but I doubt anybody cares. Don't do it again though!
