Dear Brooklyn Tenant:
Your dire circumstance is strange but you may do something on your own as long as you know the index number for your case. You could travel to the L&T Clerk's Office at the Brooklyn Housing Court and track down your case file. If active the file is still with the assigned judge. You could obtain the file in the court room and review the contents.
You could look up Online using the Index Number at NYC Housing WebHousing. If the case is active you could track the court house activity. But to see papers without your attorney helping you must do so at the Court House.
The answer provided to you is in the nature of general information. The general proposition being that you should try to avoid a bad outcome if you can.
What do you mean you can't contact them? Is the number disconnected? Email address not valid? Or is the lawyer juts not returning your calls or emails? Did you physically go to the office? Does it still exist? You can check the New York attorney registry. The attorney is required to maintain updated contact information with the New York State Bar Association.
