i want to but a couple knives on amazon. im 17. do i have to be 18 to buy them? on has two 3" blades and one has a 3.5" blade. both are folding knife (like camping/hunting style). what are the general boulder county county knife purchasing laws? thanks!
This is the relevant statute regarding knives in Boulder City and County:
5-8-9 Carrying a Concealed Weapon.
No person shall have a knife or firearm concealed on or about such person's body.
So, you can not carry a concealed knife of any type in Boulder. Boulder, as well as the State of Colorado, also prohibits switchblades, gravity knives, and butterfly knives. All knives are prohibited from being spring-loaded and must be manually opened and closed (like hunting knives). Unlike the possession of firearms in Boulder, which requires that you be 18, I did not find any statutory authority that prevents you from purchasing a king under the age 18. I also did not see anything that addressed the length of the blade. However, under CO statute, you would be a lot safer with the two 3 inch knives and possibility at risk for having the larger knife confiscated if they found it on you.

it is better to have a knife with a blade shorter than 3.5 inches bc it is arguably not a knife under the state definitions
